GPS Relativity

Satellites move at high speed far above Earth, where gravity is weaker. According to Einstein's general theory of relativity, weaker gravity makes clocks run faster. According to his special theory of relativity, fast motion makes clocks run slower. It's hard to imagine, but time passes at a different rate aboard a satellite than on Earth! GPS Relativity (2026) shows live GPS or GLONASS satellites, depending on the receiver's current mode, and the calculated relativistic clock effects for the selected satellite.

Voyager Relativity

Voyager 1 and 2 have been travelling through space since 1977 and are now far beyond the planets. According to Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity, their enormous distance from the Sun and their motion through the Solar System affect the rate at which time passes aboard them. Voyager Relativity (2026) follows both spacecraft using current trajectory data and shows, in real time, how special and general relativity make time pass differently for them than on Earth.

Quantum@Home

Quantum mechanics describes nature at atomic and subatomic scales, where the rules differ from everyday classical intuition. A single event can be fundamentally unpredictable, even while large numbers of similar events follow highly regular statistical patterns. Quantum@Home (2026) uses small detectors in an ordinary home to make some of these effects visible through live data and short experiments.
